Track And Field As Prep Sports
Track and field is a cluster of sports events which consists of running, sprinting, throwing, jumping and walking. Most of these events are organized by the members of the International associations of Athletics. This sport is widely known as track and field or athletics all over the world. There are two seasons for track and field events- indoor season and outdoor season. Run during the winter in indoor season and an outdoor season, run during the spring. Most indoor tracks are 200 meters and consist of four to 8 lanes. There are also some 150 meter indoor tracks and others as small as 120 meters have been used. However, it is a well know fact that track and field as prep sports has gain more popularity for the last few years.
The rules of track and field events are set by the Competition Rules of the International Associations of Athletics. The same rules are followed when the events of track and field in high school are competed. Some of the well known high school track and field in Washington includes Garfield High School, Central Valley High School and USA Boys High School. Garfield track and field teams have won multiple metro, district & state titles. Garfield won state titles in boys & girls track in 1987. Central Valley is one of the three high schools in Central Valley School District #356. This high school has also won many high school level boys and girls track and field competitions. USA Boys High School has also a good record in track and field events. They have participated in many state level and high school level competitions and won many prizes. Others high schools in Washington also includes East Carolina High Schools and Albemarle high School. Track East Carolina also set the 800 sprint medley relay record with a 1:28.20 clocking that erased the old mark of 1:28.43. Albemarle High School's 4x800 relay team also got into the act by setting a new standard of 7:30.67, wiping out the old mark of 7:32.89. Albemarle's runners are fast and deep some good runners of this high school are Garrett Bradley, Zach Vrhovac , Luke Noble and Anthony Kostelac. Some of the well known high schools players are Reggie Wyatt (hurdles), Marquise Goodwin (long jump), Mason Finley (discus throw), Shelby Greany ( steeplechase), Toni Young ( high jump) and Anna Jelmini (discus).
